Success comes when reason, the store of experience, surrenders to will.

A learned person without will power is like a head without a body.

….

Reason is learned from the ever changing world, but wisdom comes from the essence of life.

Common sense is necessary in the path of attainment, but not to such an extent that the reason should dominate and lead the will. The will, in action, must lead the reason, whereas if the reason is allowed to lead the will, the will many times becomes paralyzed. But when in cooperation the will leads the reason, then the path of attainment becomes illuminated.

Reason is the master of the unbeliever and the servant of the believer.

In order to see this question more clearly one must picture oneself as two beings, one the ruler and the other the servant. When one of them expresses a wish, it is the rule who wishes. And the part that says, ‘I cannot,’ is the servant. If the servant has its way, then the ruler is in the place of the servant. And the more the servant has its way, the more the servant rules and the ruler obeys. In this way naturally conflict arises and that reflects upon the outer life. One’s whole life becomes unlucky. One may be pious or good or religious, it makes no difference. If we do not realize the realm of God within ourselves nor realize our spirit to be a ruler, we do not accomplish the purpose of life.

Samuel L. Lewis

This is a natural process. The first movement of will is a downward current from Allah, through the heavens, to earth. This downward current pulls other things with it. It attracts other vibrations and collects them on the physical plane. If the will is not hampered on its return journey to God, it can descend again and bring more. This rise and fall of will is the Power and Love of God expressed through the Cosmic breath. It operates automatically through Fikar and Darood and in that way they are the greatest aids to concentration.

Concentration collects the mental atoms, but only keeps them in place when feeling controls thought. If this is persisted in, it will sooner or later force an accommodation in the physical sphere. This is success. So you see success is a positive action of will, while failure and evil are both due to weakness. Even from the selfish point of view, selflessness proves to be the highest and best form of selfishness.
